Helping you reclaim the power to improve your relationship
Reconnect with the one you love
We know that when problems arise in your relationship, it's hard to talk about them—especially when both partners have different ideas about what needs fixing!
Maybe there are things that need to change in order for you to get closer to the person you love. Maybe there are habits that need to be broken or new behaviors that need to be adopted. Or maybe you've just lost touch with who you really are as an individual and now your partner can't relate to you anymore.
By choosing couples counseling you will rediscover hope to create a safe space for effective communication, ways to navigate problems that have repetitively come up and techniques for revitalizing your intimacy, respect and affection for each other.
Empowering Couples to Thrive
Sometimes you just need an outside perspective to help you see things clearly. At Refined Vision, we believe that these goals can be achieved in a safe space where both partners feel respected, valued, and heard. In couples therapy, you can expect to learn:
How to defuse conflicting verbal communication
How to become more effective, positive communicators
How to stop blaming each other and implement strategies for dismantling the problem
How to build deeper intimacy, stronger bonds of affection and a more meaningful connection
Improving Relationships Through Science-Based Approaches
Each couple is different so we aim to personalize our approach by using a variety of methods:
Our foundational therapeutic approach comes from the family systems theory that suggests people learn how to interact, develop their sense of self, shape their identities, and orient themselves toward certain goals and values from their families.
The Gottman Method emphasizes understanding your partner’s world, increasing fondness and admiration, and having tools to manage the barriers to a couple’s vision for their relationship. They have developed research-based methods dedicated to improving vital parts of your relationship- friendship, conflict management, and creation of shared meaning- by exploring nine essential areas.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy will allow us to shift negative perspectives and interpretations within the relationship focusing on thoughts, feelings, and how one behaves toward one another.
Prepare-Enrich is a research based assessment tool proven to help couples improve their relationship dynamic, strengthen commitment levels and gain understanding of personality traits. We often use this approach for Premarital and Marriage counseling.
